The last cheers for the 2027 MCL champions still hang in the air as the baseball season has come to a close. Lockers sit empty, while fans and media reflect on the season just concluded. The players are already relaxing, taking advantage of this opportunity to heal some of the aches and pains from the long season.
Meanwhile, general managers and team staff take stock of their teams and plot roster moves. Scouts are busier than ever, hoping to find that hidden gem that will boost their own fortunes as well as their team's. In a few months, the new landscape of Maelstrom College League will become apparent, as the preseason gets under way.

 | Monday, October 18th, 2027: Georgia Tech Crowned Champions
2027 has been good to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Not only did they end up in first place during the regular season with a 89-73 record, they were the Maelstrom College League champions. The Yellow Jackets won the College World Series for the 1st time.
A 5-2 triumph over the Arizona State Sun Devils at Yellow Jackets Grounds brought home the trophy to Georgia Tech. They won the series 4-3. |
 | Sunday, October 3rd, 2027: Opelt Whitewashes Cardinal
The Sun Devils bested the Cardinal 4-0 behind the 3-hit pitching of Ron Opelt. The Arizona State hurler had 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in going the distance.
So far this season Opelt has a record of 15-14 with 214 strikeouts and 36 walks in 268 innings and a 2.28 ERA.
