Sunday, August 17th, 2025: Maple at His Best, Blanks Baltimore
The Anaheim manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."

He was talking about Jeffrey Maple, who had just hurled a fine 4-hit shutout over the Baltimore Orioles. He had 5 strikeouts and 4 walks in the Anaheim 4-0 victory.

"An outstanding job," the Baltimore manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."

So far this year Maple has a 11-7 record with a 5.18 ERA.
Sunday, July 27th, 2025: Bothwell Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
After the Cleveland 8-7 victory over Anaheim and his 5-hit day right fielder Eldridge Bothwell told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good... three or four hits even better... 5 or more are out of sight... and if it is in pro ball... it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."

The 36-year-old player gained that distinction today at Feller Field with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Anaheim Angels.

The skipper of the Indians spoke glowingly of Bothwell, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Eldridge did that to perfection today."

E. Bothwell singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Bryant in the 9th.

Bothwell is hitting .287 in 2025 with 14 home runs, 84 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has 119 hits in 414 at-bats and played in 100 games.
