| Breaking News | | Thursday, August 21st, 2025: Silas on Fire: 5-6 for Chicago (A) It was a big day with the bat for Lawrence Silas of the Chicago (A) White Sox at Jackson Memorial Ballpark as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Baltimore 17-4.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today. 5 hits in 6 tries. But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Silas had collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the White Sox had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
L. Silas singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
This season Silas is batting .350 with 119 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 46 times and has 37 runs batted in. | | Sunday, August 17th, 2025: Maple at His Best, Blanks Baltimore The Anaheim manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about Jeffrey Maple, who had just hurled a fine 4-hit shutout over the Baltimore Orioles. He had 5 strikeouts and 4 walks in the Anaheim 4-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the Baltimore manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
So far this year Maple has a 11-7 record with a 5.18 ERA. | | Saturday, August 2nd, 2025: Blue Jays Jimenez and Orioles Beeler Suspended for Fight It was quite a row yesterday at Blue Jays Stadium. The Blue Jays Herm Jimenez and the Orioles Peter Beeler backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Jimenez and Beeler were ejected.
As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 5-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions.
This season in 104 games Jimenez is batting .315 with 14 home runs, 61 RBIs and has scored 85 times.
To this point in the season he has had 1 save. Beeler has made 43 relief appearances, tossed 62 innings and struck out 38 with a record of 3 wins and 6 losses. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 30-99, .233 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 60.0 GB | | Record at home | 14-47, .230 PCT | | Record on the road | 16-52, .235 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-3, .400 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 14-19, .424 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-34, .244 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 19-65, .226 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 1-9, .100 PCT | | Record in April | 6-21, .222 PCT | | Record in May | 7-21, .250 PCT | | Record in June | 10-18, .357 PCT | | Record in July | 5-20, .200 PCT | | Record in August | 2-19, .095 PCT |
