Relying on pinpoint control and a good array of pitches, Kevin *Brown* of the Chicago (N) Cubs held the Homestead Grays scoreless today. He scattered 4 hits over 9 innings and fanned 2 on his way to the 10-0 victory.
So far this year *Brown* has made 25 starts, tossed 152.1 innings, struck out 85 batters and walked 53. His record is 11-9 with a 4.79 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .273 batting average.

 | Wednesday, June 30th, 2027: Ormeno Sensational, 5-5
5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Cincinnati's Ricardo Ormeno had a very special day against the Cubs when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Cincinnati Reds to a 16-3 win at Mr. Burns Power Plant Stadium.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Ormeno said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
R. Ormeno doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off J. Oliva in the 7th.
This year Ormeno is batting .295 with 5 home runs. He has scored 34 runs and driven in 41.

At the age of 26, Manny Vargas might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Chicago (N) center fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the National League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 15 hits in 29 at-bats, 2 home runs and 13 RBIs last week in 6 games.
Vargas is swinging at a .294 pace on the year with 8 home runs, 46 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has played in 79 games.
