Yomiuri has lost third baseman Neil Metts for at least 8 months. He was hurt in a game against the Bees while running the bases and sustained a hamstring strain. His doctors said Metts will probably be out the rest of the year.

In 2027 Metts has hit at a .276 clip with 43 hits, 5 home runs, 28 RBIs and has scored 35 times.

Friday, August 20th, 2027: Hit Parade: Joplin Pops 5 Hits
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Ballpark of Las Vegas when Noel Joplin of Las Vegas scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Yomiuri Giants.

He was down and a little subdued with mixed feelings in the postgame interview. "It was a good day for me, but not a good day for the 51s. The bottom line in baseball is to win. We didn't do it today," he told the press after the game.

He walloped 5 hits in 6 at-bats in his career day performance, but it was the Giants, who won the ballgame 10-6.

However, the shortstop of the 51s did have this to say: "My swing was really, really there today. I made some good, solid contact and when that happens... good things happen. Sure, 5-6 and losing is better than going 0-5 and losing. I'll take 2-4 and a win and be overjoyed. I ain't greedy."

N. Joplin flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off G. Costa in the 10th.

Saturday, August 7th, 2027: O' Muleeny Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter
Is it better to be good -- or lucky? After his 4-0 no-hitter over the Iowa Cubs he responded, "I don't know," said Yomiuri's Prince O' Muleeny with a grin. "To do what I did, I guess it takes both."

On his historic day at Yomiuri Ballpark O' Muleeny made good pitches the entire game, fanned 14 and had 1 walk. When the Cubs hit the ball hard, they hit it right at someone for an out.

But that's how you get a no-hitter -- a lot of skill mixed with a little luck.

This season O' Muleeny has worked 173.1 innings with 231 strikeouts en route to a 14-7 record and a 2.80 ERA.
